Teen Development Teen Development
Wyman intentionally seeks to provide comprehensive youth development programs for youth from disadvantaged circumstances — or those facing economic or societal circumstances that may restrict their ability to develop their full potential.

Teen Development
Program participants represent many cultures and ethnicities, including African-American, Asian American, Bosnian, Caucasian, Eastern European, Hispanic and Native American, to provide youth with a diverse environment in which to learn and build relationships.

For our Wyman Teen Leadership Program, schools or other youth-serving organizations working in partnership with Wyman nominate potential program participants who are incoming eighth graders meeting the following criteria:

  • Expressed interest and enthusiasm for the program
  • At-grade-level school performance and an interest in learning
  • Record of positive behavior in the community and school
  • Reliable and consistent parental or guardian support
  • Demonstrated desire to succeed
  • Ability to fully participate in an active, outdoor camping program
  • Inability to afford such a program (annual household income of no more than $10,000 per family member)
